Pinar del Rio

In Pinar del Rio you will find places to practice Climbing, hiking, bird watching and the experience to know about the tobacco plantation in Cuba. Also if you like scuba Diving Maria la Gorda is an excellent place for it, with transparent waters and white sand beaches. Viñales is a very popular place in this province, just watching the valley populated by the famous mogotes and the natural landscape worth it for sure.

Artemisa

You will find Artemisa between Pinar del Río and Havana provinces. This is a province you want to choose if you are interested in natural and eco friendly places to rest and forget about the outside world. The area counts with two special places like Soroa and Las Terrazas. Both communities where the eco sustainable tourism and the community work aims to preserve the environment and provide a nice and quiet stay.

Havana

Havana is the next province after Artemisa and the capital of the country, the one where you will find the more exciting nightlife. You can visit some interesting districts on Havana, like the Old Havana district where still are conserved the constructions, castles and fortress of the colonial period in Cuba. It will make you feel like you were traveling in time, only trying classic cars could make it even more interesting. In Havana you’ll find also beaches, going to the east part of the province and not too far is the district Playas del Este where you can feel the sun and blue waters of the tropical beaches. Also in vedado are some of the main hotels in Havana, like the Havana Libre and the National Hotel, both emblematic constructions in Havana. The Malecon (sea walk) that goes from Old Havana it’s a walk to do fur sure, try to make it early in the morning or in the afternoon by the time of the sunset. Finally don’t miss the opportunity of knowing the deep havana on the Centro Havana district where you’ll find a big part of the authentic Cuba.

Mayabeque

Is the province with more Campismos in Cuba. You will find this province next to Havana. Mayabeque is populated mostly by farms and small villages. You’ll find the most touristic part of this province in the northern part where are the beaches of Santa Cruz del Norte and Jibacoa. Campismos is the cuban nomenclature for rustic accommodations that you’ll find in this part of the province. This zone is perfect for camping and be in direct content with nature.

Matanzas

Matanzas is a province where you will find perhaps the better destinations for sun and beach tourism. The south and north parts of this province will give you similar but still different ways to enjoy the tropical sun and beaches. Perfect for swimming and practicing scuba diving. By the north you’ll find Varadero which is the most sophisticated part of this province, full of hotels and luxury casas particulares. In the south part, more wild and with less buildings, houses and constructions you’ll met one of the most important biosphere reserves of Cuba and the Caribbean. A place where you can mix, birdwatching, with hiking, scuba diving, snorkeling, camping and fishing. The Ciénaga de Zapata.

Villa Clara

This province is beside Matanzas and in the upper part of Cienfuegos has became famous by the statue of “El Che” in the city of Santa Clara. Also you may visit this province in search of one of the most important carnivals in Cuba which is the “Parrandas de Remedios” and is considered one of the oldest festivities in Cuba. This festivities took place from 16 to 26 of december each year. Also the folk music festival “Longina” happens each year in this province full of cuban culture and music. You should try both for sure, but we suggest you not to miss the “Parrandas de Remedios”, they are a truly show of what cuban culture and traditions are.

Cienfuegos

Cienfuegos is a very small province by the south of Villa Clara. You’ll find here also excellent places for scuba diving and beautiful underwater caves.The most important nature reserve on this province is the Sierra del Escambray where you can go to the Nicho and also visit the splendorous Topes de Collantes, perfect for hiking, trekking and eco tourism. Also the city of Cienfuegos keeps the colonial architecture and buildings. This city is also known by his delightful sea walk and the famous theater Terry.

Sancti Spiritus

If you want to get to the historic part of the Cuban sugar industry and slavery this is a destination to visit for sure. The “Valle de los ingenios” shows the ancient constructions and buildings where the richest family used to live by the time Cuba was ruled by spain. Also you will experience here the traditions of the african slaves brought to Cuba by the colonialism in very exciting rituals that still keep alive this tradition. Trinidad is a must see place on this province. The city has a high level of preservation of the colonial architecture and heritage, an absolutely important visit for lovers of antiques and history.

Ciego de Avila

Is the province that comes after Sancti Spiritus. Here you’ll find many destinations for eco tourism, many of them related to beaches, lakes and gorgeous keys like Guillermo’s Key and Coco’s Key. The main district of Ciego de Ávila is Morón where you can visit the train station. Also you’ll like to visit the Laguna de la Leche where you can combine the bird watching with the hiking in a whole green place.

Camaguey

It’s the biggest province in Cuba. You will find Camaguey in the middle of Cuba and between Ciego de Ávila and Las Tunas. Here you’ll find, in the cities near the sea, like big puzzles owed to the distribution of the streets. It’s said that because of the pirate attacks this villages were built like that to confuse the pirates attacking the city. In this province you could visit some places like “The Ignacio Agramonte” park or the “Plaza del Carmen” square and discover the colonial architecture.

Las Tunas

In las Tunas you’ll be entering the western part of Cuba. On this province you will start feeling a smooth change on the weather, a dryer one. Touristically speaking las Tunas is not the most important or famous province. But that fact can be an opportunity instead of a problem to you. If you want to know the pure state of a Cuban province this is a place to go. Also because of the lack of Hotels and investment on tourism for this province, most of the places to go are private. So don't miss the chance of visiting a province where most of the things work different.

Granma

Starting the eastern part of Cuba is the province of Granma. Also in this province you could visit the first part of the Sierra Maestra, which is one of the most important natural parks in Cuba. The city of Bayamo is a must see place here in Granma, a place to meet in the cuban history and related to the Cuba independence wars. The nature part in this province, like in many of the cuban provinces is stunning as well. The national park “Desembarco del Granma” and the Sierra Maestra are the two most important. Also you can start the hiking of the Pico Turquino through this province.

Holguin

This is also a huge province in terms of tourism. Here you’ll find beautiful beaches like Guardalavaca, Esmeralda o Pesquero also has some keys like Saeitía key with the bluest waters. Alejandro de Humboldt Park is also part of this province, a very important natural reserve in Cuba and with opportunities for birdwatching, hiking, trekking, canoeing and climbing. In Holguin you should visit for sure one of the amazing of the province, the small town Gibara. On this Village happens every year the “Gibara Film Fest” which has been for many years a tradition that makes this quiet small town a carnival of movies, music and culture for a week

Santiago de Cuba

The hottest province all over Cuba. This is the province with the more famous carnivals in Cuba. Here you’ll find a mix of cuban and caribean culture and folklore. If you are interested in the Cuban revolution this is the province where many of the principal activities took place. Starting with the Cuartel Moncada. Here you’ll find ancient fortress also from the colonial times like the San Pedro de la Roca castle. The Santa Ifigenia Cemetery is another must see destination in this province, many of the people involved in the cuban history are buried on this place, like José Martí and Fidel Castro. Also the Sierra Maestra is a part of this province and the other way to reach the top of the Pico Turquino, which is the highest mountain in Cuba.

Guantanamo

Guantanamo is the last province in western part of Cuba. The city itself is a quiet place with no too much destinations to go. Here you’ll find like in other provinces the dynamic of the living in provinces outside havana. But there is a place in Guantánamo that is a complete paradise. Baracoa, which was the first village founded in Cuba, surrounded by the sea and mountains is a place you should visit here. El Yunque is a big mountain that you can see from any spot in Baracoa, the hike on this mountain it’s one of the main touristic activities on this province. Also try the Baracoa food, it’s the most interesting all over Cuba with different ingredients and flavours like the coconut milk.

Isla de la Juventud

Is a small island that belongs to Cuba and is located in the caribean sea. Here you will find many beaches, as a result of being a small island. One of the most famous is the Cocodrilo beach and also the national park Punta Francés, a special one if you are interested on the sea life. Also the Presidio Modelo is a very interesting place here, this place was before a jail and now a museum of the resistance of the revolution by the beggining.
