Top 2 Hotels in Central Havana, Havana![]() Hotel Hotetur DeauvilleThis hotel isn’t smart or luxurious and leaves quite a lot to be desired on the aesthetic front, but it has one of the best views in Havana. It overlooks the wide sweep of the Malecon, a huge expanse of ocean and the romantic Morro Castle and its famous lighthouse. The lobby is painted in tones of peach and terracotta and has rather loathsome sixties-style banquettes. The semi-pornographic wooden sculptures flanking the front desk certainly take one’s mind off check-in delays but can provoke embarrassing questions from outspoken offspring. Hotel has been very recently renovated. It is, excellently located for exploration of Old and modern Havana and there are good views of the city from its rooftop pool terrace. On the first floor there is a restaurant called “Carta Nostra”, stylishly decorated with tables facing the sea. © 2009 Nigel Hunt
![]() Hotel Islazul CaribbeanThe Caribbean Hotel is possibly Havana’s best placed budget hotel. It is located halfway down the Paseo del Prado (The Prado), the border between Centro Habana and La Habana Vieja, and also very close to Parque Central and the Malecon. Hotel Caribbean has 38 rooms, lobby, snack bar, Italian coffee shop, and the small Café del Prado restaurant. There are a number of inexpensive restaurants in the area. Guests are permitted to use the swimming pool at the Hotel Sevilla for the day for 20 CUC. Other pools nearby that you maybe permitted to use are at Hotels Parque Central and Saratoga. © 2009 Nigel Hunt
