Escambray Mountains, Villa Clara
Villa Clara Province, in the center of Cuba, was the scene of some of the most important actions in the Cuban Revolution. Its capital, Santa Clara, contains buildings of great historic and cultural interest. One of these is the La Caridad Theater which, like the Sauto Theater, in Matanzas, and the Terry Theater, in Cienfuegos, is a Carefully preserved architectural jewel.

Top 1 of 1 Hotels in Escambray Mountains
Hotel Islazul Hanabanilla
Built on the shore of Lake Hanabanilla, in the Escambray Mountains, this hotel is a perfect retreat in which to get away from the stresses and strains of modern urban life. Also it is a great 2 night stopover if you are doing the Caraterra Central through Cuba.
Here, you can go boating and fish for large-mouth bass (the largest specimens ever caught in Cuba came from this lake). The mountain vegetation is tropical/jungle-like with huge Royal Palms everywhere.
A lunch or dinner in its R?o Negro Restaurant, with a great view of the lake, will give you memories to treasure. In the evening, the discotheque offers you the best in Cuba and international music.
The Hotel Hanabanilla itself is nothing to die for, but the subtropical mountain lake is, almost.
