Top 2 Hotels in Camagüey City Hotel Islazul Gran HotelConsidered Camagüey's premium hotel, this colonial-style option enjoys a steps-to-everywhere location on a pedestrian precinct in the heart of the historic district. Despite its 19th-century styling, it actually dates back only to 1939. We much prefer the more intimate charm of the Hotel Islazul Colón, but this is a generally satisfying alternative with a slightly preferential location. The place abounds in glossy hardwoods and contemporary clay ceramics. It's main selling points are the swimming pool in a cozy courtyard to the rear; and the elegant top-floor with great city views and surprisingly good fare, including great value buffets. The streetside café, however, usually disappoints. This is one of the liveliest hotels around thanks to two bars (one a gloomy cocktail lounge where the Rat Pack might have felt at home), and the cabaret-style water-ballets put on in the pool.
